Aria Sonora Duet

GIANLUCA STOCCHI E GIACOMO VALENTINI

“Aria Sonora” is a duet created by Gian Luca Stocchi bandoneon and Giacomo Valentini saxophone. Both teachers at the Institute Henze of Montepulciano, created this instrumental duet in 2015. The name  “Aria Sonora’ comes from these two modern instruments that were born in the second half of 19th century.

Although the two instruments are seemingly and structuraly very different, the saxophone and the bandoneon produce their sound through the vibration that the air produce in the passage of the reed (saxophone) and reeds (bandoneon).

The union of the two instruments, because of the reeds, produce a unique sound as if made by only one instrument,

ASTOR PIAZZOLLA MUSIC

Astor Piazzolla was born in Mar del Plata in Argentina in 1922 and he is considered the most important musician in his country. His parents of italian origin were born : in Trani his father and in Garfagnana in the province of Lucca his mother.

In Argentina everything can change but not the tango. Piazzolla has broken this rule, his famous tangos ( he has composed more than 500) show a conjunction with the traditional way of conceive tango and the new modern one.

The older, traditional style of tango, created as a form of static dance, was substituted with a modern style in which the tango becomes an expression of the soul which is transmitted to the tango dancers who are influenced by it.

There are variations on the engaging rhythms, structures and phrasing both in the lyrical and expressive movements.

There are classical movements which are combined by modern interpretations, including external influences such as jazz music in its use of dissonance and movement.

He dies in Buenos Aires in 1992.
